Top 5 Ways to Best Clean Epoxy Flooring

If you already have epoxy flooring or are thinking about it, then you know how easy it is to maintain. Just in case you need a refresher or want some tips, here are the top five ways to best clean epoxy flooring and keep your floor looking as good as new.

Sweeping

Epoxy flooring is easy to maintain by keeping dirt and debris off of it through regular sweeping. A broom that has a soft bristle or even a clue commercial dust mop is perfect for sweeping up dirt, sand, debris, and other elements like dust, wood shavings, and trash that mess up your floor.

Just like you sweep up your kitchen floor or walkway, sweeping your epoxy flooring helps keep it clean and free from debris.

Mopping

Another way to clean up your epoxy flooring is by mopping it with a little bit of dish soap and water. Simply add about a 1/3 cup of dish soap to a bucket of water then according to Do It Yourself:

Soak your mop in the bucket, and mop your floor. Make sure to cover the entire floor. Using a mop made from a synthetic fabric such as rayon is the best choice. A mop made from natural fibers can get stuck on your epoxy floor coating and leave bits of itself behind, which can lead to problems in the future.

Some cleaning tips do not suggest using soap simple because it can leave a haze but with plenty of rinsing and care, soap will work just fine on your epoxy flooring.

Stain Removal

Removing stains is easier by first deciding how long the stain has been there. For stains that are large or have been sitting a while, mix up a solution of ammonia and water. The correct recipe is 4 or 5 ounces of ammonia per gallon of water. Now it is easy to simply mop the stain with your cleaning solution and wait for your floor to dry. This solution should remove any stains that cannot be removed by a simple soap and water mop-job.

Minor Spills

These are the easiest to clean because all you need to do when it comes to minor spills is to wipe them up with a clean cloth or a paper towel. If they are large spills, refer to the stain removal area of the article because they may need extra care to remove. But a small spill on your epoxy flooring? Just wipe it up and you’re all set.
